RDS Pistol Skills Workshop: 1-day (8-hours) $256 per student.
This course will give the student the knowledge needed to confidently and efficiently operate an RDS pistol. No more issues finding the dot. No more issues tracking the dot. The whys behind all topics covered to include discussing dry practice methods and ways to improve at home. Each student will receive constant one on attention, you will not be left behind. Topics include, available optics and their pros/cons, zeroing at 10 yards vs. 25 yards, fundamentals redefined through efficiency, red dots up close, tracking the dot, target transitions, shooting on the move, mounted and dismounted movement.
EQUIPMENT: RDS equipped pistol, quality holster (no serpa’s), mag pouch, 3 magazines minimum, 500 rounds of factory ammunition, eye pro, ear pro, baseball style hat (billed cap), food / water and note-taking material.
RDS Pistol Instructor: 2-days (16-hours) $514 per student
Prerequisite: Student must be a current semi-auto pistol instructor.
This course teaches the instructor candidate about RDS as if they are brand new users of RDS in a manner that enables them to effectively pass the information along to their peers at their respective agency. Part of the learning process is redefining the fundamental of structure vs. strength, driving home the point that less mechanical effort by the shooter can result in better efficiency. The “why’s” will be explained, discussed, and answered with every technique taught within the curriculum. Each instructor candidate will gain the knowledge necessary to self-diagnose their own performance and more importantly the performance of their students while providing in-service instruction. Individual attention will be given to each instructor candidate to ensure that they are comprehending all material presented and are able to apply that knowledge while instructing their peers in the use of an RDS equipped pistol. Advanced Pistol Workshop: 2-days (16-hours) $514 per student.
This school is designed as a continuing education & training event for police officers. This course is intended for police officers and agencies looking to take the proficient individuals training to the next level. This is an ideal school for an agency’s active assailant response trained officers and budding tactical team or firearms instructor candidates. All students receive a certificate of attendance and class ranking as many events will be conducted for score. This course will feature an extensive coverage of basic skills and drills, then progress to several applicable and relevant law enforcement courses of fire and advanced techniques. Attendees can expect a high volume of all the following: movement/shooting on the move, use of cover, low light, all manner of positions, one handed shooting, disabled officer/wounded re-function techniques, and other relevant officer survival skills to include judgment in the use of deadly force.
EQUIPMENT: 1000 rounds of pistol ammunition, semi-automatic pistol (more than one may be brought to the course), duty rig with at least 3 magazines (8 if carrying a single stack or less than 8 round capacity), concealed carry rig for duty handgun (unless another weapon is carried), off duty, backup, and concealment pistols with ammunition and holster-wear, high intensity handheld tactical flashlight with spare batteries, pistol cleaning gear, locking device/container for off duty and transport, writing materials, 2-dozen business cards, billed baseball type cap, wrap around protective eye-wear, hearing protection-ear muffs. This comprehensive school teaches the student how to instruct others in the use of the semi-auto pistol and in various officer survival tactics. Students should be proficient in the use of the semi-auto pistol.
Periods of instruction include weapon/training environment safety, nomenclature, weapons maintenance, inspection and the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship and combat shooting.
Dynamic training evolutions feature extensive coverage of basic skills and drills, then progress to a number of advanced courses of fire and techniques including; movement/shooting on the move, moving targets, multiple adversaries, engagements through intermediate barriers, use of cover, low light, use of a handheld and weapon mounted flashlight, all manner of positions, one handed shooting, disabled officer/wounded re-function techniques, and other relevant officer survival skills.
Each graduate will be able to make recommendations to their department on deployment, equipment, tactics, and policy issues. Every graduate will be proficient in various methods of instruction, the weapons use from various shooting positions and ranges from contact to 25 yards.
This intensive instructor development course focuses on “what to teach” and “how to teach it” as it relates to combat handgun shooting. It features a higher volume of range time and dynamic shooting drills as our aim is to impart techniques and tactics that can be taken back to your agency and immediately incorporated into your agency's training programs.
All material is designed to be relevant to the FIRST RESPONDING law enforcement officer including those serving in concealed carry assignments. Our course topics are not taught “one way,” as our staff will present multiple options for various pistol techniques. A variety of very current “news you can use” for instructor development topics will be covered, to include presentation skills, course of fire development, risk reduction, and other important areas. In order to accomplish this, we utilize a very aggressive schedule in order to provide the attendee with the most thorough and well-rounded firearms instructor course possible.
Semi-Auto Pistol Instructor Re-certification: 1 day - 8 hours, $256.00
Current semi-auto pistol instructors can re-certify by attending this refresher course. Students are brought up to date on new technical, tactical, instructional and legal information. This course requires that the student demonstrate the ability to safely run the range, teach impromptu classes, and pass CMI’s semi-auto pistol instructor written exam and qualification course of fire.
