Patrol Rifle Instructor School
This MCOLES approved / 302 funded course runs May 7-11, 2018. This 5-day, 40+ hr course is $699 per student.
DESCRIPTION: This school teaches the student how to instruct basic rifle marksmanship and officer survival tactics for the patrol environment. Students should already be proficient in the weapons they use and should be a firearms instructor or tactical team member.
Each graduate will be able to make recommendations to their department on deployment, equipment, tactics, and policy issues. Every graduate will be proficient in various methods of instruction, the weapons use from various shooting positions and ranges from contact to 100 yards. Further, students are exposed to night fire evolutions, moving targets, multiple adversaries, and engagement through intermediate barriers.
Students should be in good physical condition to attend this course.
STANDARDS: This course it is performance based and requires students to pass a written examination, our qualification course of fire and an assigned project.
EQUIPMENT: Rifle with a sling (.223 caliber – Pistol grade carbines will not pass this course), at least two magazines and 1,500 rounds of rifle ammunition. Iron sights are recommended as learning how to zero metallic sights is a course objective. Combat optics are permissible. Bipods are not permissible. Students should pack a lunch for each day and bring plenty of water, as well as clothing appropriate for environmental conditions, eyes, ears, personal body armor & cleaning equipment to include rod, bore brush, patches, & solvent. Finally, a pistol belt and duty handgun with 200 rounds of ammunition is required for transition evolutions of fire.
