OTOA - Designated Marksman School - June 5 & 6, 2019
DATES: June 5-6, 2019 (2-days / 16-hours)
COST: $299 per student.
PREREQUISITE: Students must be proficient and qualified patrol rifle operators at their agency.
DESCRIPTION: This school is designed to enhance a patrol rifle operator’s ability to place accurate fire using magnified optics upon targets that are partially exposed or hostage-takers encountered during patrol operations. This level of training is the next progression for law enforcement patrol rifle preparation. It enables an agency to field a group of first responders who have the training, equipment and ability to deliver more precise shot placement than an ordinary patrol rifle operator. The graduate will possess the knowledge and skills required to effectively operate a patrol rifle using a magnified optic and will be able to fill the void that exists between the ordinary patrol rifle operator and the time it takes for the response of a police sniper. This course is recommended for currently trained and proficient patrol rifle operators and instructors. Students should be in good physical condition.
EQUIPMENT: A semi-automatic patrol rifle in .223/5.56 or 308 caliber with a sling, quality “combat proven” magnified optic capable of less than 2x magnification on the lowest setting and no greater than 8x on highest setting. Examples of appropriate optics include a variable power scope, ACOG, or red dot sight with magnifier. Students should bring 300 rounds of duty grade rifle ammunition, duty pistol with holster and 50 rounds of pistol ammunition.
